Backstitch

Starting the Starting the stitch, come up from the back of the fabric. Move to the left of that spot (less than 1/4 of an inch) and go through from the front. Your needle will now be positioned in the back of the fabric. Finish the stitch by coming up though the back of the fabric, to the right of your first hole (less than 1/4 of an inch).Backstitch

Lazy Daisy / Detached Chainstitch

Come up from the back and back down in the same hole or right next to point 1, forming a loop on the front side.

Bring needle up at the second position and pull thread to shape loop into desired shape. Pulling tighter creates a straighter looking stitch, while a looser thread creates a more rounded loop

French Knot

Bring needle up from the back of the fabric.

Hold thread taut with other hand and wrap the thread twice around end of the needle.

Gently pull the thread so that the wrapped threads tighten and while holding it taut, insert the needle next to spot 1 (do not put the needle into the same location) . Pull thread through onto the back until the knot is formed and lies securely on the surface
